We have led projects in exposing extremist influence efforts, coordinated inauthentic behaviour and platform manipulation strategies, and state-actor influence operations. Why Peryton?

The Peryton is a mythical creature with roots in record stretching into Greek antiquity and the Sibylline Books. The myth of the Peryton was recovered via a Greek scholiast in the Sixteenth Century. From here, the Peryton found its way into Western folklore until it became a staple of popular culture appearing in World of Warcraft and Dungeons and Dragons.

… Except it’s none of that. The Peryton was created by the Argentinian author Jorge Luis Borges in 1957, woven into the pages of his Book of Imaginary Beings alongside beasts of genuine folklore; a falsehood slipped among fact that took on its own life. We believe the Peryton is a perfect symbol for contemporary digital threats, narratives, and behaviour.
